Reissue of arguably the strangest (yet coolest) concept record in the Discos Fuentes catalogue. This compendium of trippy tropical madness masquerading as “international” cumbias features Argentinian showbiz couple Tita Duval and Roberto Rey, who were based in Medellín, Colombia.

“Cumbias internacionales” was an attempt to fuse hippie sensibilities with tropical music and combines a heady mix of Afro rhythms, breezy choruses, social commentary and instrumentation such as the electric Varitone sax, echo-drenched flute, Mellotron and spacey organ. A brilliantly hip, exotic, experimental Afro-psychedelic marvel!

Reedición del disco quizás más extraño, pero también el más cool, de todo el catálogo de Discos Fuentes. Este compendio de locura tropical con disfraz de cumbias “internacionales” es obra de la venerable pareja argentina Tita Duval y Roberto Rey, con base en Medellín, Colombia.

“Cumbias internacionales” (1974) fue un intento de fundir el lado pop de la nueva sensibilidad hippy con la música tropical del Atlántico y contiene una embriagadora mezcla de ritmos africanos, estribillos con gancho, comentario social e instrumentación psicodélica como el saxofón eléctrico Varitone con efectos wah wah y fuzz, Mellotron a lo Beatles y órgano espacial. ¡Un estupendo cóctel exótico, experimental y afro-psicodélico!
