Money Chicha es una banda de Austin, Texas que cuenta entre sus filas con miembros de Grupo Fantasma, ganadores de un premio Grammy, y de su proyecto funk paralelo Brownout. Su música está impregnada de fuzz, reverb y elementos percusivos, y está fuertemente inspirada en los sonidos colombianos y peruanos de los años 60 y 70. Este estilo de música, a menudo denominado “chicha”, es conocido por su contagioso beat latino, la pirotecnia surf y psicodélica de sus guitarras y las melodías influenciadas por la cultura tradicional de las montañas de los Andes.

Money Chicha is an Austin, Texas based group featuring members of the Grammy-award winning Latin orchestra Grupo Fantasma and its offshoot funk outfit Brownout which performs a fuzzed-out, reverb-drenched and percussion-heavy style of music inspired by the sounds of Peru and Colombia in the 60s and 70s. This style of music, sometimes called “chicha” music, is known for its infectious Latin beat, its psychedelic, surf guitar pyrotechnics and its melodies influenced by the indigenous culture of the Andes mountains.

Another golden compilation from AA! Great introduction to Afro-Colombian psychedelia via the Discos Machuca back catalogue. These songs are full of infectious percussion, trance-inducing rhythms, sun-soaked melodies, and hauntingly beautiful vocals.
