Black Merda (Pronounced Black Murder), the first all black rock band to write and play their own music in the late 1960s and early 1970s, are considered to be Black Rock pioneers as well as the originators of their own style of Black Psychedelic Rock. They released two albums in the 1970's "Black Merda" (Chess 1970) and "Long Burn The Fire" (GRT 1972) which weren't properly promoted when first released, but are now seen as Black Rock classics by a growing number of international music fans.

De los últimos sesenta y de Detroit. Se pronuncia como "Black Murder" y fueron unos adelantados a su tiempo. Utilizaban riffs heavy-funk y psicodelia en temas soul y r&b. Fueron los amos del underground negro de Detroit, como una conexión entre Hendrix, Parliament y MC5. Además tanto sus letras como su nombre son una clara y radical protesta contra los acontecimientos racistas que acabaron con la muerte de miles de Afro-americanos en aquellos años.
